Jugowice (German. Hausdorf) ) is located at the western foot of the Owl Mountains in the Wałbrzych county. Until 1998, administratively it belonged to the Wałbrzych Voivodship.

Owl Mountains

Mountains vary in terms of height; the highest peak is the Great Owl (1015 m). Other peaks of Owl Mountains height from 600 to 980 m above sea level. There are interesting rock sockets in the upper parts. Mountains, except of glades in the vicinity of peaks and passes are completely overgrown with spruce forests, with rare natural beeches and yews. Viewpoints are located on the scenic towers, on the rocks or at the peak glades. These mountains are the oldest part of the Sudety and are composed mainly of Precambrian gneiss.

Adits Jugowice Górne – Jawornik

Part of the project Riese (German. Giant) underground complex carved into the massif of Mount Peasant is composed of seven adits in three separate groups. The fourth tunnel ends today with collapsed rubble. Length of the identified tunnels: 460 m (1 400 m2, 4,000 m3). On the surface there are several brick barracks. Riese is a codename of the largest mining and construction project of Nazi Germany. Some existing today facilities are accessible to visitors.
